Welcome to Birch Bay

Active, outdoorsy community with a thriving beach culture

Wooded, breezy, and tranquil, Birch Bay is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. Forest-like and situated along the oceanfront, experiencing nature to the fullest is always possible. The area lies along a bay that shares its namesake and is just under ten miles to the Canadian border. Residents enjoy a superior quality of life, which is further enhanced by the limited commercial developments in town. Local Lifestyle

Birch Bay is classified as a protected bay. Situated approximately 100 miles north of Seattle, and less than 10 miles to Canada, locals find its location to be quite convenient. Although the area is relatively close to notable spots, it feels incredibly secluded. One of the most stunning parts of the entire town is the scenic drive, bike ride, or walk along Birch Bay Drive. Running down the coastline, bask in the gorgeous vistas that extend for miles. Birch Bay also has a state park and conservancy area that share its name. Awe-inspiring and overflowing with natural beauty, this is one of the most coveted places to call home in northern Washington.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Within this cozy community, there are several restaurants and bars for Birch Bay residents to enjoy.

The Beach at Birch Bay is a favorite town hangout. Featuring live music, trivia nights, drinks, and a fabulous menu of American fare, it is no surprise that this casual eatery is super popular. Birch Bay is also proud to be home to a craft brewery, Beach Cat Brewing. Exuding approachable coastal vibes, grabbing a pint (or two) is a great way to unwind in the neighborhood. Two other top establishments include CJ's Beach House and Great Blue Heron Grill.

When looking to pick up the essentials, head to one of Birch Bay’s quaint shops. Locals often frequent places such as Beachwood General Grocery Store and the Bay Center Market.

Things to Do

Birch Bay is rich with things to do for nature lovers. From its state park to its immaculate waterfront, explore the outdoors year-round.

Almost all of the area’s top spots are situated on or close to the coast. Birch Bay State Park is one that can be found directly on the water. Visitors can take advantage of the park’s numerous amenities and features, including a sprawling campground, walking paths, and a rocky beach. Directly south of the state park, be sure to plan a visit to the Birch Bay Conservancy Area.

Avid golfers appreciate being close to one of the area’s most prestigious courses — the Birch Bay Village Golf Course. This highly-rated private course is reserved for residents, guests, and owners. Open since 1968, golfers can enjoy the nine regulation holes at all times of the year. On the opposite side of town, Point Whitehorn provides breathtaking views of the bay. Spend the morning or afternoon hiking and taking in views from Point Whitehorn Park.
